Luke brings more than six years of trade recruitment experience, backed by a background that has taken him through trades, youth services and even zoological work.
It is not the most conventional path into recruitment, but it taught him how to work with people from every kind of background and quickly understand what makes them tick.
Luke knows that a resume can tell you where someone has worked. It cannot tell you whether they will turn up, handle pressure, fit the crew or still be there six months later.
At Trial By Fire, he leads recruitment strategy, client relationships, delivery systems and business growth. His focus is on practical hiring, recognising transferable skills and building relationships that last longer than a single placement.

James is the trade authority behind Trial By Fire.
A qualified carpenter and Director of Onestop Joinery Solutions, he has spent years on the tools across high-end residential joinery, commercial shopfitting and custom cabinetry.
He understands the parts of the job that never make it into a position description. Deadlines moving forward while materials arrive late. Site conditions that look nothing like the drawings. Clients expecting perfection, and the whole job relying on having people around you who know what they are doing.
James still runs Onestop day to day, while supporting Trial By Fire with technical advice, candidate vetting and practical guidance for clients.
His role is straightforward: help make sure the people we represent can actually do the work and understand the environment they are walking into.

Nicholas brings more than 15 years of hands-on experience across upholstery, automotive interiors, aviation, marine and bespoke furniture.
His career has taken him from traditional furniture upholstery and deep buttoning through to high-end automotive development, luxury vehicle interiors and VIP aircraft cabins. He has worked across pattern making, cutting, sewing, trimming, prototyping and production, giving him a genuine understanding of the skills, standards and people these industries rely on.
At Trial By Fire, Nicholas works in business development, building relationships with businesses across upholstery, furniture, automotive, marine and aviation.
He understands the challenges these businesses face because he has worked inside them. He knows how difficult it can be to find experienced tradespeople, how much pressure a missing person can put on production and why finding someone with the right practical ability matters more than simply matching a job title.
Nicholas’s strength is being able to speak the same language as the businesses we work with. He understands the craft, the technical requirements and the realities of the workshop floor, allowing him to have practical conversations about where a business is heading and the people it needs to get there.
